mom life.

this post has nothing to do at all with the photos that are attached. well. other than the fact i wore this on monday. what happened on monday you ask? i took landon to swim just like we have been doing for the past three weeks. after his lesson we were walking back to the car when he suddenly stopped and had a look of concentration on his face. that's when i saw the trail of pee forming down the hallway of the ymca. what did i do in this situation? i decided to yell loudly so everyone in the ymca and down the street could hear "oh, landon! i should have dried you off better!" while quickly mopping up the pee with a towel. we then darted to the exit without making eye contact. i mean. if you don't make eye contact with anyone then they didn't actually see it happen. right?

never did my 21 year old self ever think my nearly 31 year old self would be soaking up pee throughout a ymca on a monday afternoon. but. i wouldn't take it any other way.

tennessee {part 2}

the second part of our trip consisted of moonshine tasting and meeting david hasselhoff. not in that particular order. or maybe it was, the moonshine got my memory a little fogged. in my opinion moonshine is disgusting. you can cover it up with apple, peach or strawberry. but, at the end of the day it still tastes like you lit your tongue on fire or are drinking rubbing alcohol. if you are in to that type of thing then moonshine is right up your alley. rey insisted on buying a mason jar of the original flavor. because, in his words "you know, we might want to have some one day." and by we he meant himself. the only time i will ever need it is to maybe disinfect a wound.

tennessee {part one}

we just returned from a long weekend trip to tennessee with my family. one of those days was spent at dollywood. the dollywood crowd is what i would refer to as "unique". a lot of people watching was had by all and we will just leave it at that. one of the rides we went on was a classic car ride. the cars drive themselves on the track and you just pretend to steer along. perfect for landon. until our car stopped and wouldn't start back up. then rey came behind us and his car wouldn't stop and he ended up rear ending us. other than that, the ride was super fun. and i know what you are thinking? how many of those sausages that i see below did you eat? i only had one. ok. maybe, three.

swimmin' in the rain

it rained last week. a lot. you know what is the most annoying thing about rain? landon misses swim lessons. why you ask? the pool is water. rain is water. why does it even matter if it's raining? apparently 8 out of 10 parents that take their children to safe start are opposed to the thought of their child getting wet by rain while swimming in a pool. i am not one of those 8. feel free to quote me on that statistic. another statistic i discovered this week is 9 out of 10 construction workers wear these same boots on rainy days. and you can definitely quote me on that one.

safe start

two weeks ago landon started safe start swimming. for those of you unfamiliar with safe start, it is survival swimming for children. the classes are only 10 minutes a day monday-friday for 6 weeks. it teaches them if they ever were to fall in a pool how to float and swim to the wall on their own. i was a bit hesitant at first to enroll him, i have heard horror stories where the child cries the entire time and ends up hating the water. landon loves the water. i didn't want to strike fear in him but in the end even if he "hated" the water he would still be able to save himself if he were ever to fall in a pool. which is key here in florida. the first day he was a little nervous, did a little whimpering but never a full blown cry. i think maybe he was more nervous about the stranger that was dunking him around the water more than the actual water. as the weeks have gone the whimper has faded and he now runs to the edge of the pool everyday. it amazes me how much he has learned in such a short period of time and can't wait to watch him learn more as the weeks progress!
